The Woronzoff Road from Sevastopol, 1855
Photograph by James Robertson (1813-1888), Crimean War (1854-1856), 1855.
The Woronzoff Road ran between Balaklava harbour and the dock yard creek at Sevastopol. In this photograph, Robertson has captured the view looking across from the Russian strand battery which protected the creek at this point. This image was one of a series he took of the aftermath of the fall of Sevastopol.
From a collection of 22 photographs by Roger Fenton and James Robertson, 1854-1856.
