Large dinner fork, 1800 (c)

Silver-plated, cast bronze handle with two steel prongs, 1800 (c).

From a collection of cutlery owned by Lieutenant-General Sir John Moore, bequeathed to General Paul Anderson.

General Paul Anderson (1767-1851) of the 78th (Highland) Regiment of Foot (Ross-shire Buffs) was aide-de-camp to Lieutenant-General Sir John Moore (1761-1809). Moore died at the Battle of Corunna in 1809, during the Peninsular War (1808-1814).
