Indian Army Cavalry Trooper's sword, Pattern 1908, 1918 (c)
Made by Wilkinson Sword Company, 1918 (c).
This sword was solely designed to be used in combat as a deadly thrusting weapon. It is widely regarded as the finest cavalry sword ever issued. Indian cavalry received a modified version of the British Pattern 1908 sword with a smaller bowl and smaller grip made of walnut wood rather than plastic, to accommodate a perceived smaller south Asian hand. As the sword was a wartime issue it was painted khaki to reduce glare.
