'Commissariat Difficulties The Road from Balaklava to Sevastopol, at Kadikoi, during the Wet Weather', 1854 (c)

Tinted lithograph by E Walker after W Simpson. No 13 in 'Simpson's Seat of War in the East, First Series'. Published by P and D Colnaghi and Company, 15 January 1855.

The stormy weather made roads impassable for wagons between Balaklava, the main British port of the Crimean War (1854-1856), and the soldiers at Sevastopol. The latter were forced to walk an 11 mile round trip to Balaklava for supplies.
