The Women's Auxiliary Corps (India) was the equivalent of Britain's Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS). Formed in May 1942, the WAC(I) served in auxiliary roles as typists, drivers and switchboard operators and could be posted anywhere the Indian Army or Air Force were posted. It was disbanded in 1947 at the same time India achieved independence from British rule.
