Shoulder belt plate, 3rd Regiment of Foot Guards, 1800 (c)
The motto on this badge reads 'Nemo Me Impune Lacessit', which means 'No One Attacks Me With Impunity'. The Scots Guards are third in the Guards order of precedence. Although they trace their origins back to 1642 they did not formally join the British Army establishment until 1661, after the Grenadier and Coldstream Guards.
