Other ranks' glengarry badge, Royal Welch Fusiliers, 1874 (c)
Originally raised in 1689, the Royal Welch Fusiliers was one of the oldest regiments in the Army, hence the archaic spelling of the word 'Welch' instead of 'Welsh'. It recruited from the six northern counties of Wales.
