Other ranks' cap badge, The King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, 1910 (c)
This unit's badge consists of a French horn with the White Rose of York within its twist. The French horn is a type of bugle. British light infantry regiments were traditionally equipped as lightly as possible to facilitate rapid movement so they favoured horns and bugles to convey orders rather than use cumbersome drums.
