Shoulder belt plate, officer, 25th (Sussex) Regiment of Foot, 1782-1805
This Regiment was originally raised in 1689 in Scotland. In 1782 it was the County Regiment of Sussex and its name was changed to reflect that. By 1805 its recruiting area was moved to the Scottish Borders and it was again was re-named 25th (The King's Own Borderers) Regiment of Foot.
This officer's shoulder belt plate was used to secure a leather shoulder belt which would carry a sword.
