Shako plate, 11th (The North Devonshire) Regiment of Foot, Pattern 1822-1829

Silver and gilt metal, cast, die-struck badge in the form of an eight-pointed silver star with the regimental number in Roman numerals, 'XI', surmounted by a Hanoverian crown, in the centre, within a gold garter bearing the battle honours, 'Peninsula Salamanca Nevelle Toulouse'.

Probably an officer's shako plate. The battle honours relate to the regiment's service in the Peninsular and Napoleonic Wars, from 1812 to 1814.
