Shako plate, other ranks, 77th (East Middlesex) Regiment of Foot, 1861-1869

This brass badge includes the regimental number within a garter bearing the motto, 'Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense' (Shame on him who thinks evil of it), with laurel wreath surmounted by crown.

In 1881 the 77th became the 2nd Battalion Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex Regiment).
