'Centre of the British Army at La Haye Sainte', 18 June 1815
Coloured etched aquatint by Thomas Sutherland after William Heath, from the series, 'Waterloo Scenes'. Published by J Jenkins, 1 March 1816.
British cavalry charge between the squares of infantry to drive off French cuirassiers and lancers during the Battle of Waterloo. Green-coated riflemen can be seen skirmishing in front of the farm of La Haye Sainte. This print gives a good impression of the smoke and confusion of a Napoleonic battlefield.
