'The Opening into the Narrow Pass above the Siri Bolan', 1839

The Army of the Indus entered Afghanistan through the Bolan Pass, a 60 miles long route through the Hindu Kush mountain range. It took the army two weeks to pass through it. During this period they were constantly fired upon by Baluchi tribesmen who hid in the caves overhanging the pass.
