The Chateau of Hougoumont was a strongpoint in the Duke of Wellington's defensive position at Waterloo. Alexander Fraser, 17th Lord Saltoun, commanded two Light Companies of the 1st Regiment of Foot Guards which defended the garden and orchard of the chateau.
