Battle of Nivelle, 10 November 1813

Aquatint by T Sutherland after W Heath, published by J Jenkins, 1 Sept 1815. From 'Napoleonic Wars', 1799-1815: The Martial Achievements of Great Britain and Her Allies from 1799 to 1815.

This battle occurred after the Earl of Wellington's Allied army had pursued Marshal Soult's French force through the Pyrenees mountains and into France. Soult lost 4,351 men to Wellington's 2,450 and was forced to abandon his defensive positions along the River Nivelle.
