Trophies from the Battle of Blenheim, 13 August 1704
Coloured line engraving by an unknown artist, published 1704 (c).
Among the trophies taken at the Battle of Blenheim on 13 August 1704 were numerous guns and some 130 enemy colours. Many of these were brought to London where they were placed on display in Westminster Hall. Although the original colours no longer survive, a contemporary list from the time of the War of the Spanish Succession (1702-1713) describing each one is located at the National Archives. Some of them are illustrated in this picture.
