1st Life Guards On King's Guard, Whitehall, 1905 (c)

A guardsman on duty at the gateway of Horse Guards in Whitehall. The Life Guards are the senior regiment of the British Army. They trace their origins back to 1660 when four troops of horse guards were raised by King Charles II around the time of his restoration.

One of a series of 14 oil paintings depicting various units of the British Army.
