Cap badge of the Worcestershire Regiment, 1904 (c)
The Worcestershire Regiment was formed in 1881 by amalgamating the 29th (Worcestershire) and 36th (Herefordshire) Regiments of Foot, which had already been recruiting from a single depot at Worcester since 1873. The new unit inherited the motto 'Firm' from the 36th Regiment.
