Shoulder belt plate, De Roll's Swiss Regiment of Infantry, 1803 (c)
The De Roll Regiment consisted of Swiss Germans and Alsatians. It was founded by Baron De Roll in 1794 and entered British service, taking part in the 1801 campaign in Egypt. The baron was a keen freemason and this is reflected in the insignia he chose for his regiment's badge.
