Princess Alexandra of Denmark (1844-1925) arrives in London with an escort of mounted Life Guards with large crowds cheering her procession, with the National Gallery and St Martin in the Fields church in the background.
Alexandra of Denmark, aged eighteen, arrived in England on 7 March 1863. She was to marry Edward, Prince of Wales (the future King Edward VII) in St George's Chapel at Windsor on 10 March 1863. With the accession of her husband to the throne in 1901 Alexandra became Queen consort of the United Kingdom and Empress consort of India.
