An Indian Sherman tank, Burma, 1944 (c)
Photograph, World War Two, Far East (1941-1945), 1944 (c).
The Indian Army first received the American-made Sherman in 1943. Although it was no match for the best German tanks, it was much superior to anything deployed by the Japanese in Burma.
From a collection of official photographs from Middle and Far East. Collected by Major-General Sir Frank Walter Messervy.
