The 23rd (London) Armoured Car Company, which was renamed the 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) in 1939, took part in Army manoeuvres in 1935 as part of the 1st Cavalry Brigade, alongside the Queen's Bays.

The Queen's Bays (2nd Dragoon Guards) mechanised with light tanks in 1937. Two years later, it joined the Royal Armoured Corps.
