The 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) War Diary for 1939 records that the unit moved billets from the seaside town of Minehead in Somerset to Ilfracombe in Devon on 26 September 1939. Clovelly is a fishing village west of Ilfracombe.
