'B' Squadron detachment, 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) at the funeral of 2nd Lieutenant Basil Stevens, 1940

According to the war diary of the 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), 'A' Squadron was billeted at Cherfold, 'B' Squadron at Chiddingfold, and 'C' Squadron at Burningfold Hall near Dunsfold, on 15 October 1940.

The diary records that 2nd Lieutenant Basil Stevens was killed in a motor accident on 14 November 1940 at Chiddingfold in Surrey during a period of squadron training. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission records Stevens' death, aged 31, and burial at St Mary's Church, Chiddingfold.
