'Clearing decks for action', 3rd County of London Yeomanry, Sicily, 1943

Members of 3rd County of London Yeomanry remove temporary waterproofing from a Sherman tank after the units' landing on Sicily. The crew are named as 'Peter', 'Norrie' and 'Tommy'.
Transported on American-built 'Landing Ships, Tank', or 'LSTs', sailing from North Africa, the 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) landed in Sicily on 10 July 1943 as part of 4th Armoured Brigade. According to the unit war diary 41 of 50 tanks were landed on 10 July 1943.
