Photograph by Major Wilfred Herbert James Sale, MC, 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), World War Two, Sicily, 1943.
Members of 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) inspect captured Italian Semovente 47/32 self-propelled guns during the regiment's drive on Lentini in support of 15th Infantry Brigade in July 1943. The Semovente 47/32 was introduced in 1941 but proved increasingly inferior to the Allied armour it was pitted against.
From an album containing 241 photographs compiled by Major W H J Sale, MC, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters).
