Captured Italian self-propelled gun, Sicily, July 1943
Photograph by Major Wilfred Herbert James Sale, MC, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), World War Two, Sicily, 1943.
Italian Semovente 47/32 self-propelled gun abandoned and captured during the regiment's drive on Lentini in support of 15th Infantry Brigade in July 1943. The Semovente 47/32 was introduced in 1941 but proved increasingly inferior to the Allied armour it was pitted against.
From an album containing 241 photographs compiled by Major W H J Sale, MC, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters).
