The graves of Troopers B H J Sullivan and F J Kingsbury, 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), Italy, 1943

Trooper Billy Henry John Sullivan, aged 23, and Trooper Frank James Kingsbury, aged 36, were killed in action on 7 December 1943. 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) moved into the town of San Vito Chietino in Abruzzo on the 3 December 1943. The unit moved up to attempt to cross the River Moro but were unable to find a bridge that was intact following the German withdrawal. On the 7 December the Sharpshooters came under mortar and artillery fire and Sullivan and Kingsbury were killed. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission records that the two men are buried at the Sangro River War Cemetery.
