Horsa gliders near Ouistreham in Normandy. Gliderborne troops landed and seized the vital bridge over the River Orne, between Ouistreham and Caen, on the 5 June 1944. The bridge, now known as 'Pegasus Bridge', was held until the airborne troops were relieved by troops landed on the Normandy beaches on D-Day.
