Soldiers man an emplaced Bofors gun, close to Pegasus Bridge on the Caen Canal. The Horsa gliders that delivered Major John Howard and D Company, 2nd Battalion Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry can be seen in the distance. Operation DEADSTICK took place in the early hours of 6 June 1944 and secured the capture of two bridges vital for Allied troops moving east from Sword Beach on D-Day.
