'Dispersal point short of Gosport', 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) tanks, Operation OVERLORD, June 1944

According to the Sharpshooters' war diary the unit moved to the Marshalling Area at Gosport, on the western side of Portsmouth Harbour, on D-Day, 6 June 1944. The unit completed the waterproofing of its tanks before embarking on LCTs (Landing Craft Tanks) for the Channel crossing. The following day it went ashore off Mont Fleury La Riviere.
