Sergeant Tom Leonard Brown was killed in action on 11 July 1944 during heavy fighting near Eterville. According to the unit's war diary, 'A' and 'C' Companies were in action against German infantry and armour and were heavily shelled during the day. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission record confirms the date of death and records Brown's grave at Ryes War Cemetery, Bazenville.
