In the last weeks of World War Two (1939-1945) 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) were in action in Lower Saxony. The Sharpshooters war diary entry for 22 April 1945 describes how tanks of 'C' Squadron and infantry from 1/5th Battalion, Welch Regiment took the village of Unterstedt against 'token opposition'. 40 prisoners of war were taken with no casualties.
