'Liberated displaced persons mainly Poles', 1945
Photograph, World War Two, North West Europe (1944-1945), 1945.
In the weeks and months after the end of the war in May 1945 thousands of demobilised soldiers, displaced persons, slave labourers and refugees had to processed, medically treated and then sent home. For months, millions of people were on the move across war-ravaged Europe.
From an album containing 198 photographs and captions compiled by Major Wilfred Herbert James Sale, MC, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), 1944-1945.
