Officer cadets taken as prisoners at Voltage in Germany, April 1945

Photograph by Major Wilfred Herbert James Sale, MC, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), World War Two, North West Europe (1944-1945), 1945.

A British soldier guards German POWs taken at Voltage. 'C' Squadron of 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry had accompanied a detachment from the 5th King's Own Scottish Borderers (travelling in Kangaroo APCs) into the village where they came under panzerfaust attack. The squadron shelled the village, which was also strafed by rocket-firing Typhoons, and the defenders quickly surrendered.

From an album containing 198 photographs and captions compiled by Major W H J Sale, MC, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters).
