The Light Aid Detachments (LAD) were sub-units of personnel from the Electrical and Mechanical Engineers attached to units like the Sharpshooters to provide logistical support.
The 3rd County of London Yeomanry travelled on the RMS Orion to Egypt via South Africa. The Orion was an Orient Steam Navigation Company liner, launched in 1934, and requisitioned as a troopship, designated Hired Military Transport (HMT), in 1940.
