Photograph by Major Wilfred Herbert James Sale, MC, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters)., World War Two, North Africa, 1942.
The M13 was an Italian medium tank manufactured by Fiat. With a weight of 13 tons, it carried armour (42 mm) comparable to its Allied opponents of 1940-1941, and sufficient firepower in its 47 mm canon to engage the British tanks of that era. By 1943 it was obsolete.
