Inspecting a knocked-out M13 tank, 1942

Photograph by Major Wilfred Herbert James Sale, MC, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters)., World War Two, North Africa, 1942.

The M13 was an Italian medium tank manufactured by Fiat. With a weight of 13 tons, it carried armour (42 mm) comparable to its Allied opponents of 1940-1941, and sufficient firepower in its 47 mm canon to engage the British tanks of that era. By 1943 it was obsolete.

From an album containing 189 photographs compiled by Major Wilfred Herbert James Sale, MC, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters).
