'The Freeman's Oath', 1803

Coloured etching by and after William N Gardiner, 1803. Published by William Nelson Gardiner, Cambridge, 1803.

A patriotic illustration for a ballad, the music for which is not attached. According to the inscription, the publisher, William Gardiner was a 'Member of the St James's Loyal Volunteers' and the scene shows volunteers rallying to support a figure of Britannia, as well as women and children.
