'Boer or Briton: A new South African War game', 1900 (c)
Manufactured by John Jaques and Son Limited, London.
Children learned about the Boer War (1899-1902) at school and from comics and books. Catering for juvenile interest in events in South Africa, commercial companies produced model soldiers, board games and games of 'skill' such as this example by J Jaques and Son which asked the question of the moment - Boer or Briton?
