Indian soldiers in a trench at Gallipoli, 1915
Photograph, World War One, Gallipoli (1915).
Sikh soldiers of the 29th Indian Infantry Brigade rest in a trench, probably in the Cape Helles area. The figure in the background uses a periscope to safely view the neighbouring Turkish positions. The 29th Brigade landed at Gallipoli on 1 May 1915.
From an album of photographs compiled by Lieutenant (later Lieutenant-General Sir) Reginald Arthur Savory, 14th Sikh Regiment.
