Waistbelt worn by Captain H Waring, North Irish Horse Special Reserve, 1911 (c)
Raised in the aftermath of the Boer War (1899-1902) as the North of Ireland Imperial Yeomanry, following the Haldane Reforms the regiment was redesignated the North Irish Horse. Part of the Territorial Force, Waring's regiment was the first non-regular unit to be deployed to the Western Front with the British Expeditionary Force in 1914.
