Bearskin badge, Farrier Quarter Master Sergeant Joseph James Wyvill, 2nd Dragoons (Royal Scots Greys), 1900 (c)

White metal. badge in the form of the White Horse of Hanover, with two loop fittings on reverse.

Joseph James Wyvill joined the 2nd Dragoons (Royal Scots Greys) in 1895, aged 21 years old. He served as a farrier during the Boer War (1899-1902), transferring to the 12th Lancers in 1907. He was discharged after 17 years service in 1913, only to be recalled in August 1914 following the outbreak of the World War One (1914-1918). He served on the Western Front with the 12th Lancers until he was medically discharged in 1917.
