Corporal, Royal Engineers, 1895 (c)
Glass negative, W Gregory and Company, 51 Strand, London, 1895 (c).
This Corporal wears an undress uniform comprising a pillbox forage cap and an undress frock. The frock was designed as a looser fitting and more simply finished garment than the tunic, and was used for everyday wear. This frock also bears his rank badge on his upper right sleeve. The broad red stripe on his trousers also indicate he is a Royal Engineer.
One of a collection of 278 glass negatives, Gregory and Company, London, 1895 (c)-1900.
