This sergeant is pictured wearing a rifle green undress frock and glengarry cap, both trimmed with black lace. His black leather waistbelt was also distinctive to rifle regiments. He is holding a Martini Henry rifle, which was replaced by the Lee Metford magazine rifle from 1888.
