Privates, King's Royal Rifle Corps, 1895 (c)
Glass negative, W Gregory and Company, 51 Strand, London, 1895 (c).
Both men wear an undress pattern frock and home service helmets in rifle green. As a rifle regiment their Slade Wallace load carrying equipment is coloured black, rather than the usual whitened leather worn by other infantry regiments. On the left hand brace of the soldier on the right is a magazine pouch which could be used for their magazine loaded rifles. They also wear blackened leather gaiters and black ankle boots.
One of a collection of 278 glass negatives, Gregory and Company, London, 1895 (c)-1900.
