Corporal and Private, 1st Battalion Devonshire Regiment, 1895 (c)

This private wears the 1881 pattern tunic, with a foreign service pattern helmet which were issued just before soldiers were sent overseas to hot climates. He wears a stripped down version of the Slade Wallace load carrying equipment, with the belt and single ammunition pouch for his Lee Metford rifle. The corporal on the right wears a frock as undress wear, with a glengarry cap.
