Mounted military police were first established in Aldershot in 1855 and were formally established in 1877. This sergeant wears a home service helmet and is mounted on a grey horse. The Royal Military Police, successors to the Military Mounted Police, maintained a riding troop at Aldershot until 1995 when it was finally disbanded.
