Picket spike, 1920 (c)

Picket spikes were used to tether horses when out in the open. Usually a number of spikes would be hammered into the ground and a rope strung through them, and then several horses tied to the rope. A single horse could also be tied directly to a picket spike. This example is probably Indian and is forged from a square bar of wrought iron.
