'Belgian armoured motor car', 1914
Lantern slide manufactured by Newton and Company, London, 1914.
Belgian soldiers gather around a Minerva armoured car. Prior to the German occupation of Belgium in 1914, the Belgians produced around 30 armoured cars based on the Minerva motor car, built in Antwerp. Thinly armoured and open-topped the vehicles were used for patrolling and reconnaissance.
From a box of 70 lantern slides associated with the German invasion of Belgium, 1914.
