Lantern slide, World War One, Home Front (1914-1918), 1915 (c).
Following the outbreak of war Lewisham hospital and workhouse was transformed into a military hospital. Initially it had 24 beds for officers and around 850 for the rank and file. As the war progressed the hospital also dealt with many wounded German prisoners of war.
